The world is evolving rapidly, and more-so are the technological advancements, which i might say also include the Diagnostic procedures of investigating for particular diseases.Also with newer diseases and the insurge of genetic basis of diseases, and also immuno-histochemistry based treatment of certain cancers, the need for highly specific diagnoses has become a necessity. Here comes the role of a qualified pathologist.
So, after MD Pathology one can opt for one of the following options-(in India atleast)
1)DM - i. Hematopathology
ii. Medical Genetics
iii. Medical Immunology
iv. Clinical Hematology
2) Post-Doctoral Fellowships
i. Hematopathology
ii. Oncopathology
iii. Renal Pathology
iv. Surgical Pathology

The options are good .. but the number of institutes available for further training post MD Pathology are very few.. I personally would like to become a Nephropathologist but like i said its going to be a cut throat competition to become one in our country.
